Following consistent advocacy from Ms Yasmin Catley MP – Member for Swansea, $900,000 from the Stronger Country Communities Fund Round Five has been allocated to upgrade Swansea Swim Centre.

The allotted funding will be used to replace the plant room and install a fibreglass liner to the 50m pool.

The facility services the eastern catchment of Lake Macquarie, with residents from right across the Swansea electorate regularly utilising the pool for activities like learn to swim, squads and water polo. A power upgrade to the centre will enable the delivery of Lake Macquarie City Council’s Aquatic facilities Strategy, future proofing the pool.

Ms Catley also supported Council in their application for the funding by providing a Letter of Support.

Ms Yasmin Catley MP – Member for Swansea said “I was pleased to hear that $900,000 from the Stronger Country Communities Fund had been allocated towards upgrading Swansea Swim Centre”.

“Since I became the local state member, locals have constantly raised with me the need to upgrade Swansea Pool”.

“Whilst locals regularly use the pool, it is also home to the Swansea Sharks Swimming Club and Lake Macquarie Dolphins Water Polo Club. These upgrades will ensure that the community and these groups can use the facility for years to come”.

“It is truly a great outcome for the local community that these additional works will take place”.

“I was proud to advocate for this project”.
