Tribute to Senior Constables Wade Fuller and Craig Hansen
Our Police Force does an incredible job in keeping our community safe and secure. It is certainly a tough job that is often thankless at best and met with hostility and violence at its worst. I extend my thanks to serving and retired police officers generally, but today I pay tribute to two officers from the Lake Macquarie Local Area Command in particular, who were recently among eight others recognised for their acts of courage in this year's Australian Bravery Decorations. Senior Constable Wade Fuller and Senior Constable Craig Hansen were formally recognised for their involvement in the rescue of three children and their father at Caves Beach in 2016 after they were caught in a rip. To conduct the rescue, the two officers used boogie boards that were on the beach, demonstrating a level of resourcefulness and quick thinking that is admirable. The two officers will receive a commendation for brave conduct, an award that is most fitting for such demonstrations of courage and selflessness.
